COMPLAINT
1. A study of terrorism in Egypt titled “Deals between Lethal Terrorists”
by political researcher Abdel Rehim Aly ( al Ahaly ‘The
People’ newspaper, issue no.1278, page 8, 17 May 2006) documented the
slaughtering of Christian Copts in the town of Abu Qerqas ,
Menya Providence .
In February 1994, the writer interviewed
police General Maher Hasan at the general’s house in Cairo . Hasan had been the director of Menya
security during the massacre. He stated that his then-boss, minister of
interior Mousa, called him two days before the event and ordered him to cancel
a plan that was already made to arrest 11 members of al Gamaa al Islameya (GI).
Police investigation had confirmed that the 11 suspects had planned to attack
the Coptic properties after the Friday Muslim prayers to avenge a false claim
that a Coptic man dared to marry a Muslim woman. Said General Hasan, “We had
already obtained the arrest warrants from the prosecutor and secured the
necessary manpower and armored vehicles from Central Security. General Mousa
called the cancellation on the Wednesday prior. I complied of course. But on
Friday extensive fires broke out. Abu Qerqas was almost totaled and many Copts
were killed. It turned out later that the leaders of the attack were the same
men intended for arrest.”
“The minister called again a few days later
and ordered me to leave my post and go to Northern Sinai for a month or two,
jokingly saying, ‘Consider it a little vacation, man! Just until this wave of
public criticism against us subsides in Cairo .’
Mousa knew of course that the responsibility was his, but tried to make it look
as if it were mine”, Hasan added.
Aly questioned the criminal relations
between terror groups and some ministers and senior government officials:
· Why were certain suspects
allowed to leave the country? It was a stark violation of normal law, let alone
the Emergency Law.
· Why was not the Emergency Law
applied to stop Islamist gangs from turning a sizable part of Upper
Egypt into a state within the state?
· Why did the authorities let
mosques become warehouses of weapons and “courts” to punish citizens according
to Islamic Shariah “law”?
· Why did the authorities let
Islamists control prisons and use them as incubators and training camps for new
terrorists?
In the second segment of Aly’s research (Al
Ahaly, issue no. 1279, page 10, 24 May 2006), he uncovered secret meetings
ordered by then-minister of interior Mousa and held by police leaders and
“princes” of Islamic groups. Aly described a conference that took place at the
house of parliament member Hosam al Kelany and was attended by senior security
officers from the province of Asyout as representatives of Mousa, and a number
of IG princes led by Gamal Zaki of Dayrout and Gamal Farghaly of Sanabo.
Farghaly was the principal culprit in Abu Qerqas terror. Kelany, the parliament
member, confirmed the conference occurrence to Aly.
Aly detailed horrible anti-Coptic violence
in the same segment, “Several incidents of persecution against Coptic citizens
happened under police watch in the eighties and nineties at Menya, Asyout,
Sohag and Qena provinces. Innocent, defenseless Copts were slain by sword at al
Rahman (the Merciful !!!) mosque, Menya according to ultra-conservative
Shariah, as punishment for fabricated crimes, the victims heads were hung on
street light poles. Similar atrocities were repeated in Abu Qerqas in 1992 and
1994. More than a hundred Copts were killed in separate attacks, but police
brass kept labeling the crimes as sporadic, individual acts done by
distorted-faith Muslims. The police commander of Asyout, General Magdy
Basyouny, called the killing of 8 Copts at Ezbet al Aqbat (Copts Estate) in
February 1996 a ‘random incident.’ While the Emergency Law was heavily used to
silence opposing progressive politicians, writers, journalists and intellectuals,
it was never used against the murderers of Copts. The killing of 13 Copts shot
from behind inside St. George’s Church in Abu Qerqas resulted, as usual, in
forcing some Coptic priests to appear with Muslim Sheikhs in a peace-declaring
‘celebrations,’ with police officers and local figures giving hollow propaganda
speeches.”
Aly continued, “Neither was the Emergency
Law wielded at the following Islamic terrorists, who had been charged in over
170 terror crimes more than 10 years ago:
1. Mohammed Abdel Rehim Sallam group
2. Anwar Hamed group
3. Mahmoud Farshouty group
4. Refeat Zeidan group
5. Abdel Hamid Abu Aqrab group.
The persisting question is, ‘Where are
those groups now?’ More than 500 Egyptians and foreigners were killed or
injured in explosions at the heart of Cairo ’s
Khan Khalili and the Sinai resorts of Taba, Dahab and Sharm al Sheikh. It
cannot be more obvious that the Emergency Law is a paper tiger enacted to
hinder the growth of a legitimate political atmosphere; to strip the rights of
progressive movements; and to provide a golden opportunity for terror and
destruction to prevail.”
2. Another important story of the
relationship MB and its affiliates with corrupt government hierarchy was told
by Mr. Montasar al Zayyat, a lawyer who had defended Islamists. It was
published in his book, titled “Islamic Groups: A View from the Inside.” Dr.
Refaat al Saeed, a liberal professor and former prime minister, wrote a review
of the book (al Ahaly, issue no. 1232, page 11, 15 July 2005):
“Zayyat divulged a big secret by exposing the role of MB in mobilizing Islamist
groups.” Saeed quoted Zayyat: “Islamic factions did not have an organizational
frame; only common thinking and tactics… Coordination of the groups was managed
by a committee including MB Sheikhs Hafez Salama and Mohammed al Ghazali, which
met in al Nour (the Light) mosque in Cairo ’s
Abasseya neighborhood… Sheikh Ghazali had frequent meetings with Omar al
Telmsany, Mustafa Mashhour and other GI princes to make decisions on current situations…
National Security was quite aware al Nour mosque meetings because they were
held in public.” Saeed continued, “But the surprise was that then-interior
minister General Mohammed Nabawy Ismail consulted the sheikhs and the princes
frequently, especially in the wake of the sectarian strife between Muslims and
Copts in at the Cairo
neighborhood of al Zawia al Hamra in early 1981… So, was Ismail playing Sadat’s
game of using MB and GI to scare Nasserites and leftists? Did Ismail extend the
game to frighten the Coptic community as well? It’s a bitter question, but its
answer is a lot bitterer!!!”
The bitterer answer is the shameful
collaboration of government leaders --interior ministers such as Mousa, Ismail
and others-- with MB and GI terrorists in slaughtering Copts, Muslims,
policemen and tourists as countless documents indicate. It is notable that a
former minister of interior, General Zaki Badr, made a relevant legal complaint
against another minister of interior, General Mousa no less. Despite the
extreme seriousness of the allegations, the outcome of the anticipated
investigation has never come out !!!
3. The Egyptian weekly magazine “al
Mosawar” (the Pictured) uncovered a similar document (issue no. 4234, pages 14
& 15, 2 December 2005), which is the complete text of the then-“forbidden”
MB plan to dominate the Egyptian people and government. Excerpts:
1. We (MB) must eliminate other Islamic
movements, either by liquidation or forcing them to join us. Egyptians must
accept MB as the only authority of Islam.
2. We must use lies, half-truth, cunning
and deception of Teqeya (an Islamic set of behavioral rules,
said to have been permitted by the Profit Mohammed.) The time of working
underground has ended. Our goals must be kept secret, but our means to
accomplish them have to be seen and felt by the public.
3. We must form strong ties with the
governing political party and effective communication channels with influential
politicians.
4. Our enemies, and those who do not
cooperate with us as well, must be harassed and defamed by accusing them of
bribery or betrayal. They must be silenced no matter what it takes.
5. We must continue to penetrate and
control the media, especially those belonging to the regime. Independent
newspapers, TV stations, etc. must work in harmony with what we say and do. The
media must not attack us.
This damning document proves the crooked
and evil strategy of the MB, the “forbidden” organization, to demolish the
state institutions and interests in order to capture power and suffocate Egypt . The MB
wanted to pave its way to the top by tearing down not only the Copts, but also
political parties, civil institutions and even Muslim competitors, moderate or
not. That is what the MB was and still doing for over 35 years. Its victims
included the Islamic Shariah Society, the moderate Islamic Party and others. Al
Azhar, Islam’s equivalent of the Vatican, and its head, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed
Sayed Tantawy, were not out of reach. They were attacked by a relentless media
blitz driven by the MB. The Sheik was insulted and terrorized because he
refused to let MB push its way into al Azhar.
4. The presence of secret presence of a
powerful MB militia was confirmed by General Fouad Allam ( al Dostour ‘the
Constitution’ Egyptian newspaper, issue no. 95, page 5, October 1, 1997.)
Allam, the former deputy chairman of the National Security council, had
faced justice Maamoun al Hodaiby, then-MB deputy Morshed, in a TV
talk show called Abaad (Dimensions) broadcast by Orbit
satellite channel. Allam said, “MB claimed in 1981 that it had abandoned
violence in favor of open peaceful preaching, meanwhile its secret militia was,
and still is, very active. MB’s Telmsany later acknowledged the fact in
detail.”
In another report (Nahdet Misr ‘Rise
of Egypt ’
newspaper, page 5, 21 February 2005), Allam responded to an article
written by MB leader Dr. Esam al Erian on the assassination of Sadat. Allam
confronted Erian, asserting that 3 MB militia men – Salem Azzam, Hakim Mohammed
Gallad and Barakat Mohammed Hareedy – were charged in Sadat’s assassination
case number 2359/ 1982, Abdeen Criminal Court. Refuting another claim of
Erian’s, Allam accused Erian of knowing that Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman had
received a large sum of dollars from MB lead man Saeed Ramadan in Saudi Arabia
for the purpose of reorganizing an armed group in Fayoum, Egypt. “You are for
sure aware the connection of Rahman with the assassination,” Allam told Erian.
5. The former commander of the MB “Special
Force” militia, Aly Ashmawy, (Rosa al Yousef weekly magazine,
issue no. 102, page 6, 12 December 2005 ) disclosed that “MB had in fact
penetrated the ruling party of President Mubarak as well as the national media…
MB will get them to serve its interests…and neutralize whoever not cooperating.
MB applies Teqeya, saying something and doing the opposite.
goals are well camouflaged; enemies cannot predict the next move… When MB
ideologist Sayed Qotb deplored many normal life practices of the majority of
Muslims as “infidel behavior”, MB denounced the decree adopted it, but
disagreed with it in public… MB determined it would suffer public ridicule and
animosity if its real stand was known… The same situation was repeated as MB
announced a non-violence policy, then put its sword-wielding thugs on the
streets to scare voters and get its candidates elected.”
Ashmawy had admitted earlier (Rosa al
Yousef, 16 April 2005) that, “Contrary to what is being said, MB militants
and Special Force still exist …They have gained quite an influence within MB…
Plenty of their members are now in senior positions.” It is a straight
confession that bares the MB long-running terrors of killing Copts, arson,
setting fires, bombing and the like.
6. Egyptian newspaper “Sout al Omma” (Voice
of the Nation) published on December 27, 2004 a report about uncovering an MB
coup named “Salsabeel” (brook) to overthrow the government. Damning
evidence was confiscated in Salsabeel Company, which is owned
and managed by Khayrat al Shater, a top-ranking MB leader. Authorities were
shocked upon learning that 33,000 MB members were involved.
7. In an interview with al Ahram (The
pyramids) newspaper of December 30, 2004, President Mubarak said, “MB has a
terrible bloody history, the last thing Egypt wants…They killed nationalist
prime ministers just because of opinion differences in some political issues…
They tried to kill President Nasser in 1954… Fanatic attitudes and hatred of
other religions tear up whole countries… What we see now in Iraq is an
example of the bad mix between religion and politics… Religion-base parties
threaten societal peace.”
8. The Coptic weekly newspaper “Watany”
(My Homeland) of October 24, 2004 had to cried, “Upper
Egypt Copts had been savagely assaulted by radical Islamists since
the 1970s. Hundreds were killed, mutilated or injured. Churches, homes and
commercial establishments of Copts were torched. Some government buildings were
also destroyed, but the brunt fell on the Coptic community... However, the law
did not reach any of the criminals.”
9. The second convict in the Military Tech
College plot to seize power, Talal al Ansary, bragged about the connection of
his group with MB. He told reported Tareq Saeed (al Karama ‘Dignity’
newspaper, issue no, 17, page 5, 31 January 2006): “We performed the oath of
allegiance before the Morshed in the house of Zeinab al
Ghazali. We were the MB military wing who killed Sadat.” Ansary also stressed
the strong financial and logistical aid MB provided to his group.
*******************
The above documents and confessions bring to light a lot about MB tactics to
reach power: terrorism, propaganda, lies, cunning, deception and organizing
several militias such as GI, Military
Tech College ,
Jihad and the most infamous al Qaeda. MB leader Sheikh Ayman al Zawahry proudly
said that he MB dispatched him to Afghanistan to become the right hand of the
notorious Osama bin Laden before al Qaeda began carrying out the MB terror plan
to establish a radical Islamic Caliphate world wide.
The confession of Ansary, the Military Tech convict, proved beyond doubt that
Sadat was murdered by none other than MB despite its repeated denials of having
any secret armed group; and despite the big favor did for MB by allowing the
wicked organization to work in public as a legitimate political party after
pardoning its long-imprisoned members.
Likewise, the statements of political researcher Aly, former MB lawyer Zayyat,
former national security General Allam and former MB militia leader Ashmawy
testify to the fact that MB planned and committed most –if not all- of the
Islamist terror crimes and assassinations in Egypt and abroad for decades. All
along, MB depended upon Teqeya fraud and the illusion of
multiple names of terror groups --all branches of its militia-- to mislead Egypt , Arabs
and the world, while working discreetly to grab power and impose the
iron-fisted Shariah. MB Morshed Mohammed Mahdi Akef (al
Karama (Dignity) newspaper, issue no. 2, page 7, 4 October, 2005)
proudly said that his organization “controls Egypt and the whole world”, a
sinister demonstration of MB strength and dominance.
Egyptian authorities, strangely enough, did not care much about the published
confessions and documents, and totally ignored the plight of its Coptic
minority, moderate Muslims or even national economy and sovereignty. Successive
governments looked the other way while MB killed, set fires, spread fear and
destroyed the vital tourism industry – in collaboration with a deviant security
apparatus. The results of police investigation and final court decisions of
countless serious criminal cases -- the 1992 Salsabeel coup
attempt for one-- were not made public.
The confessions and documents, moreover, speak volumes of the Islamist
persecution of Coptic citizens. In 1972, the church
of Virgin Mary in Khanka, near Cairo , was burned. So
many other churches met the same fate. Copts were savagely murdered in the
towns of Asyout, Qoseya, Sanabo, Dayrout, Dair (monastery) al Moharaq, Abu
Qerqas, Menya, Nagee Hamadi, Kafr Demian, Koshh, Alexandria , Odaysat and others. When Copts’
heads were displayed on street light poles, police and Central Security played
spectators. No words can describe the enormous horror Copts suffered. Copts,
among others, can never believe nor accept the police shameless denial of
collaborating with the murderous MB.
It is a very well known fact that MB, founded in 1928, had assassinated a few
prime ministers and other officials in the forties and fifties. Its attempt to
kill President Nasser in 1954 resulted in incarcerating many members and the
escape of others mainly to Saudi Arabia, Thus Copts, and the Egyptian street in
general, enjoyed normalcy. Atrocities resumed on a larger scale, especially
against Copts, shortly after Sadat brought MB to the surface in the early
seventies. Sadat appointed hundreds of MB members in sensitive government and
media positions as to counter the Nasserites, socialists and leftists, whom he
imagined were a threat to his regime. To make things worse, Sadat allowed MB to
build armed groups. Mohammed Osman Ismail, a former governor of Asyout
province, coordinated the organizing, financing and arming of the mushrooming
militias. MB rewarded Sadat by shooting him dead with machine guns on his day
of glory: celebrating the October 6 anniversary of the 1973 victory; crowded by
his army generals, foreign ambassadors, government echelon and dignitaries of
every kind; in front of thousands of parade audience and millions of TV
viewers.
The confessions and documents, including what is called the MB “Conquering of Egypt ” scheme,
present the prelude of converting the country into a Taliban-type theocracy
after destroying it first. The scheme calls for eliminating progressive
policies and persons, impoverishing the people, flooding the society with
intensive problems and fast-paced crises. Inevitably, Egyptians would slip in a
state of confusion and frustration that propel a revolt against the secular
regime. MB then appears as the GOD-sent savior, who would be adored by
misguided nation hoping not only to see an end to its misery, but also willing
to swallow a bogus guarantee that MB-obedient Muslims will enjoy paradise on
earth and heaven.
Toward the goal of collective brain
washing, MB does not shy from utilizing the technology and psychology of
satellite TV and other media --all products of the “infidel’s civilization”--
to spread lies, rumors, hatred, suspicion, false accusations and
outrageous fatwa decrees –all products of Teqeya and
sick minds. The consequential effect on Egyptians and Arabs will be a
hysterical inability to think straight, a pathetic submission to MB and an
Islamist paranoia that will turn the masses into blood-thirsty animals seeking
heavens by cutting the head of any “non-believer” be it a Christian,
Sunni, Shiite, even a father or brother.
