Death
threats against a Coptic author Dr. Seti
Shenouda following his lawsuit against a radical book
Dr Seti Shenouda* receives death threat after filing a lawsuit
against a book printed by the Egyptian government that calls for the killing of
Christians.
The
Free Copts received a written statement from Dr. Seti Shenouda, author of
the series of articles titled “Did
the Muslim Brotherhood Kill Their Founder Hassan El Banna?”.
The
statement, which was directed to the Egyptian human rights
organizations and media says:
"I
have recently been the recipient of countless death threats and threats of
framing me for crimes to humiliate me if I continue to investigate, document
and report violations
of
the human rights if my fellow Egyptians: Muslims and Christians.
Of
these reports and investigations which unleashed the threats against me, is a
report against the Egyptian Minister of Endowment and Dr. Mohammed Emara (a member of the
Egyptian Islamic Research Council )after
the ministry published a book late last year titled “The Apostasy Turmoil “ and
which explicitly calls Christians “infidels” and included a Fatwa
is that allows the murder of Christians and take their property.
I
have also filed a police report against Mohammed Mahdi Akif of the Muslim
Brotherhood, and sheikh Mohammed Abdalla Alkhatib, the “mufti” of the
Brotherhood, for the fatwa they issued ordering Muslims to destroy Christian
churches in the land of Egypt. The fatwa states that this is a religious
duty on every Muslim, and therefore must
be carried out.
Another
report was made against the Muslim Brotherhood as well as some previous
ministers of the interior, accusing them of collaboration to carry out many if
the violent terrorist acts in Egypt over the past 35 years.
Another
example is a study into the Muslim Brotherhood organization, and the secrets of
the leader of their special unit (the military and intelligence arm of the
organization) Abdul Rahman Al Sendi’s assassination of the then Muslim
Brotherhood Founder Sheikh Hassan Al Banna in 1949.
And
finally a study into the Islamisation of thousands of Coptic Christians in
recent years, and the real reasons behind it.
In
all the above reports and studies, I have relied on documents and confessions
of relevant parties. And the death threats increased after the
publication of the studies that point the finger at the Muslim Brotherhood for
leading terrorist groups in Egypt and their involvement in masterminding
violent attacks which resulted in the murder of hundreds of Christians,
Muslims, police and tourists in Egypt.
Apart
from the threats, some people who claim to be “mentally disturbed” have
recently started stalking me and trying to create situations which would
justify my murder. In this case, previously prepared documents to testify
to their unstable mental state would be produced, and their acts would go down
as an unplanned, non premeditated isolated incident.
“Yes
we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in
ourselves but in God who raises the dead”
